Ex-Miami Dolphins safety Bacarri Rambo arrested and charged with raping college student
Former Miami Dolphins safety Bacarri Rambo was arrested Monday night after police say he raped a University of Georgia student.
Athens-Clark County police booked Rambo, 29, into a Georgia jail at about 10 p.m. Monday on a rape charge, just two days after their investigation began, the department’s press release reads. His bond is unclear.
The victim was described a 21-year-old female UGA student who, according to police, alleged Rambo sexually assaulted her at his home in downtown Athens.
An All-American defensive back at UGA, Rambo was picked by Washington in the sixth round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He’d spend a little more than one season in Washington before being cut and eventually signed by the Buffalo Bills.
Injuries forced the Dolphins to sign Rambo to a short-term contract early in the 2016 season. He appeared in nine games, racking up one interception and 42 tackles along the way. The Bills took a chance on him during the summer of 2017 but cut him after a month.
Rambo spent the previous two seasons as a defensive graduate assistant on the Bulldogs’ football team. A UGA spokesperson told the Athens Banner-Herald that he was no longer with the program but could have taken spring classes. Their 2020 Spring Football Media Guide still lists him as a staff member.
