Ross reflects on a Super evening, plus all the records set or tied in Super Bowl 54

A night five years and more than a half-billion dollars in the making was a success for Dolphins owner Stephen Ross.

South Florida was only able to lure the Super Bowl back for a record 11th time because of hundreds of millions of private funds Ross dedicated to renovate Hard Rock Stadium.

That building never looked better Sunday night as 62,417 people watched a great game in person (not to mention a hundred million or so more on television).

After the game, Ross released the following statement to reporters:

“I want to thank the NFL and Miami Super Bowl Host Committee for their commitment and hard work throughout Super Bowl 54. This was a great week for South Florida and tremendous showcase for a totally remade Hard Rock Stadium as a global entertainment destination designed to host big events. The entire team, led by Tom Garfinkel, did an amazing job of not only transforming the venue, but creating a culture for sustainability.”

Spin those records

Super Bowl records set Sunday night:

Most rushing yards, game, wide receiver: 53, Deebo Samuel.

Super Bowl record tied Sunday night:

Most touchdowns, one quarter: 2, Damien Williams.

Most points, fourth quarter: 21, Kansas City.

Fewest punt returns, game, team: 0, Kansas City

Fewest punt return yards, game, both teams: 0, Kansas City vs. San Francisco

Fewest fumbles lost, game, both teams: 0, Kansas City vs. San Francisco.

Most fourth down conversions, game, team: 2, Kansas City

Meanwhile, the Chiefs are the first team in NFL history to win three games after trailing by at least 10 points in a single postseason.

Also, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is the youngest quarterback to win Super Bowl MVP (24 years, 138 days old).
