Here’s what one angry Eagles fan wanted his team to do after losing to the Dolphins

No NFL fan would be happy if their team lost to the Miami Dolphins in 2019.

So when the Philadelphia Eagles came up short Sunday in South Florida, one unhappy fan created a petition demanding that the team walk home from Miami.

“The Eagles are an absolute embarrassment and have done us wrong this entire season,” wrote Jesse Giuffrida, who’s listed as the petition’s creator. “They deserve to be punished and should not be allowed to fly home in comfort.”

As of Monday afternoon, the petition has garnered 8,112 signatures, just shy of its 9,000 goal. Eagles fans and haters alike have taken to the comment section to share why they chose to sign.

“I will NEVER NOT be an Eagles fan, but if they walk home might make them think they need to play better!” wrote Mark S. from Ohio.

“If they can’t beat the dolphins they better not expect a ride home,” wrote an anonymous user.

“I’m a raiders fan but this is just sad,” wrote Miguel R. from Florida.

The funniest part of this petition is that the walk — from Hard Rock to Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia — is approximately 1,271 miles. Google Maps calculated that it would take 418 hours which means the Eagles would be basically walking until the end of January.

While Giuffrida’s petition might seem a bit like an overreaction, his frustration is just. A win over the Dolphins would have put them atop the NFC East thanks to the Dallas Cowboys’ two straight losses.

For better or worse, however, the Eagles’ playoff hopes are still alive if they win out. The Cowboys are the only one team on their remaining schedule with a record of .500 or better.

Although a playoff berth will surely not shake the stench of a loss to the Dolphins, it would be a welcomed start.
