There’s a good chance Dolphins start their seventh different safety of season Sunday

First, the news:

The Dolphins promoted safety Montre Hartage from their practice squad Saturday. Hartage, an undrafted rookie, seems likely to make his NFL debut Sunday again the Eagles.

To make room for Hartage on the 53, the Dolphins waived cornerback Xavier Crawford, who had appeared in just one game with the Dolphins since joining the team last month.

Now, here’s what it means:

The Dolphins are on track to start their seventh different safety of the season, assuming Jomal Wiltz doesn’t again slide over from corner.

Saturday’s roster move was a strong sign that Steven Parker won’t play this week. He was limited in practice all week with a groin injury.

Eric Rowe will handle the one safety spot.

But who will handle the other? Wiltz started one game at safety but plays all over the field for Miami. Here are the other three players who have started a game at that position for Miami: Rowe, Reshad Jones (injured reserve) and Bobby McCain (injured reserve).

So who would be lucky No. 7?

The Dolphins really would have just three options: Hartage, Adrian Colbert and Walt Aikens, with Colbert the likeliest of the three.
