Miami Dolphins’ Ryan Tannehill leaves game with injury, returns in second half
Ryan Tannehill left the Dolphins-Patriots game late in the first half after Ja’Wuan James accidentally stepped on his right foot on a sack.
Tannehill stayed down briefly before walking off under his own power. He had a noticeable limp, appearing to favor his right foot or ankle.
He went, wth the assistance of medical staff, directly to the locker room, where he underwent further medical evaluation.
Whatever doctors did at halftime worked. He was the first Dolphins player out of the locker room, and after testing out the injury during a brief warm-up, returned to the game.
When Tannehill got hurt, Brock Osweiler took his place to finish out the drive. Osweiler was promptly sacked, setting up a punt that was blocked.
Before his injury, Tannehill was 5 of 8 for 96 yards and a touchdown.
This is just the latest bad break for Tannehill, who has missed all but eight games in the last two calendar years due to knee and shoulder injuries.
