The Dolphins announced that they have added some considerable heft to their growing sports science operation. The team hired Wayne Diesel away from the English Premier League to serve as sports performance director. The Dolphins have also promoted Dennis Lock, a PhD candidate in statistics at Iowa State, to director of analytics.
Diesel, who joins the team after spending the past eight years with Tottenham Hotspur, will oversee all sports science initiatives for the franchise. His focus will include player injury prevention and rehabilitation.
Lock, who was previously the team’s head analyst, will support football operations through statistical analysis and research.
