Tight end Dion Sims remains in the concussion protocol and will not play Sunday against the Jets, Adam Gase announced Friday.

Sims practiced all week, but still had not made enough progress from his Week 6 concussion by Friday to play.

The Dolphins again will be down to their third and fourth tight ends, as Jordan Cameron also remains sidelined by a concussion he suffered on Sept. 25. MarQueis Gray and Dominique Jones will be the Dolphins’ tight ends Sunday.

Dolphins coaches had praised the progress Sims had been making in recent days; he practiced without limitation Thursday.

Meanwhile, cornerback Xavien Howard will miss his fourth straight game with a knee injury. He’s been ruled out.

Four Dolphins were listed as questionable: safety Isa Abdul-Quddus, guard Jermon Bushrod, receiver DeVante Parker and guard Laremy Tunsil.

Gase remained vague on who will fill the team’s open roster spot, but linebacker Zach Vigil is the likeliest candidate. Vigil has been on the non-football injury list all year.
