Why is #ISurvivedLamar trending? It’s not because of a tell-all Lamar Odom book.

Lamar Jackson has ruined a lot of dreams this year.

He’s collected ankles like an elite gravedigger, made a Hall of Fame GM eat his words and helped dispel the myth that black quarterbacks don’t equate to success.

His latest victim? Fantasy football owners.

For those who don’t know, the NFL regular season coming to an end means fantasy football playoffs. Remember, fantasy football doesn’t mean dungeons, dragons and wizards — it’s real NFL players on real NFL teams drafted by real people. The “fantasy” portion only alludes to each owner’s team.

That being said, #ISurvivedLamar is trending on Twitter thanks to Jackson’s real life 212 passing yards, five touchdown performance Thursday against the New York Jets (not because Khloé Kardashian published a tell-all book on Lamar Odom). Fantasy owners lucky enough to win despite Jackson’s monster statline tweeted screenshots of their final scores.

Others shared their excitement for having Jackson on their team and propelling them to the next round of playoffs.

So now you’re probably wondering why does this matter?

In truth, it’s only relevant because of the betting aspect of fantasy football. Many fantasy football leagues required a buy-in, meaning that you can’t participate without paying a certain amount. The winners will receive the jackpot while other participants are left wondering where they went wrong.

So as long as Jackson continues to dominate, expect more tweets from fantasy owners happy to have survived the South Florida native’s wrath.
