With the start of training camp just days away, the Miami Heat’s preseason roster is now full.

The Heat announced the signing of developmental guard Caleb Daniels on Thursday, putting its roster at the NBA’s 21-player preseason maximum. The Heat will hold media day Monday at Kaseya Center in Miami before opening training camp at Baha Mar in the Bahamas on Tuesday.

The Heat signed Daniels to an Exhibit 10 contract, which is essentially an invite to training camp and protects him from being signed away by another team.

The Exhibit 10 deal also doesn’t count against the salary cap, tax or aprons unless Daniels makes the Heat’s opening night 15-man roster. The more likely scenario, though, is that Daniels’ Exhibit 10 contract turns into more time with the Heat’s G League affiliate — the Sioux Falls Skyforce — this upcoming season.

Daniels, who went undrafted out of Villanova in 2023, also spent last season with the Skyforce. He averaged 12.3 points, five rebounds and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 42.9 percent from the field and 36.8 percent from three-point range in 47 games with the Heat’s G League affiliate last season.

Daniels, 25, was also part of the Heat’s summer league roster this offseason. The 6-foot-4 guard averaged only 5.4 points per game in five appearances during Las Vegas Summer League, but he provided solid defense with 1.2 steals per game.

Daniels also recorded only three turnovers during the entire summer league, posting an impressive assist-to-turnover ratio of 4 and totaling a quality plus/minus of plus-47 in seven summer appearances.

With the Heat’s preseason roster now full at 21 players, the 15 players currently on standard contracts with the Heat for next season are Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro, Terry Rozier, Duncan Robinson, Haywood Highsmith, Kel’el Ware, Kevin Love, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Josh Richardson, Nikola Jovic, Thomas Bryant, Alec Burks, Pelle Larsson and Nassir Little (fully non-guaranteed).

The Heat’s three two-way contract players are Josh Christopher, Keshad Johnson and Dru Smith.

The Heat also has Isaiah Stevens, Zyon Pullin and Daniels signed to Exhibit 10 contracts. The Heat has until the day before the start of the regular season to decide whether to move these Exhibit 10 players to a standard/two-way roster spot or waive them.

The expectation is that these are the 21 players who the Heat will open training camp with on its roster.

NBA teams are allowed to carry up to 21 players under contract in the offseason and preseason. Rosters must be cut to a maximum total of 18 players (15 on standard contracts and three on two-way contracts) by the start of the regular season.
