Heat’s Jimmy Butler to be featured in new Netflix NBA docuseries. Filming has already begun
Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler will be at the center of a new Netflix series.
With Netflix creating a new NBA documentary series modeled after its popular NFL “Quarterback” show, Butler is one of five players who were selected for the first season of the project, a league source confirmed.
Along with Butler, the new docuseries will also feature LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers, Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics, Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Domantas Sabonis of the Sacramento Kings, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
The expectation is the new NBA docuseries will be modeled after Netflix’s “Quarterback,” which produced a successful first season that followed Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs, Kirk Cousins of the Minnesota Vikings and Marcus Mariota, who was with the Atlanta Falcons at the time, on and off the field during the 2022-23 season.
Filming of the NBA version of the docuseries involving Butler began at the start of this current season and will continue through the end of the season.
The name of the series and its premiere date are unknown as of now. Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions is among those producing the show.
Butler, 34, is in his fifth season with the Heat. Butler, who will miss his fifth straight game on Wednesday against the Oklahoma City Thunder because of a right foot injury, is averaging 21 points, five rebounds, 4.5 assists and one steal per game this season.
