Heat without at least 5 players Sunday against Cleveland. Here’s the latest injury report
The bad news for the Miami Heat is star Jimmy Butler will miss the rest of the Heat’s four-game trip. The good news for the Heat is it may get a few players back.
Instead of traveling to Cleveland on Saturday with the team for Sunday’s game against the Cavaliers (7 p.m., Bally Sports Sun), Butler returned to Miami for further evaluation on his injured knee.
After playing in Wednesday’s loss in Toronto, Butler sat out Friday’s overtime defeat to the Washington Wizards because of right knee soreness and will now also miss the final two games of the Heat’s trip that ends Monday against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The soonest Butler can make his return will be when the Heat returns home to face the Wizards on Wednesday.
The Heat also ruled out Udonis Haslem (personal reasons), Tyler Herro (left ankle sprain), Victor Oladipo (left knee tendinosis) and Omer Yurtseven (left ankle surgery) for Monday’s matchup against the Cavaliers.
Duncan Robinson is listed as doubtful to play because of a sprained right hand that he sustained during Friday’s morning shootaround.
But Bam Adebayo (left knee contusion), Dewayne Dedmon (non-COVID illness) and Gabe Vincent (left knee effusion) are listed as questionable after all three missed Friday’s loss to the Wizards. Adebayo has missed the last two games.
The Heat had just just seven available players in Friday’s 107-106 overtime loss to the Washington Wizards with nine players held out. The Heat was forced to make injured guard Gabe Vincent active, despite him not being available, just to get to the NBA-required minimum of eight active players needed to play a game.
The seven available Heat players for Friday’s loss to the Wizards were: Kyle Lowry, Caleb Martin, Haywood Highsmith, Nikola Jovic, Max Strus, Jamal Cain and Orlando Robinson. They are also the only seven Heat players who aren’t on the injury report for Sunday’s game.
If Adebayo, Dedmon and Vincent can play, the Heat will have 10 available players against the Cavaliers.
