Miami Heat

Podcast: NBA offseason has hit a lull. Where Miami Heat stands and what could come next

The NBA offseason has finally hit a lull.

Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant still hasn’t been traded yet, guard Donovan Mitchell is still a member of the Utah Jazz and the Miami Heat has yet to make an outside addition to its 15-man roster. Nothing seems to be imminent on those fronts either.

On a new episode of the Miami Herald’s Heat Check podcast (after a few weeks off), Anthony Chiang and David Wilson went through the latest rumblings surrounding the Durant and Mitchell situations. Why have talks reached a stalemate and what will it take for things to pick up again?

If the Heat can’t strike a deal for Durant or another frontcourt player, how will it fill the void P.J. Tucker left behind as the starting power forward? Hint: Small lineups featuring Jimmy Butler at the four could be the answer late in games.

Chiang and Wilson closed the episode with their long-awaited reviews of “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty.”

As always, thanks for listening and please continue to rate, review and subscribe on Apple, Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts.
