Adebayo and Lowry back for Heat’s showdown with Wizards, but Herro out with wrist injury
Kyle Lowry and Bam Adebayo, as Jimmy Butler would put it, decided to show up for work Thursday.
Lowry and Adebayo will be back in the lineup for the Miami Heat as it takes on the Washington Wizards at 7:30 p.m. at FTX Arena. Adebayo returns after missing the last two games with a left knee bruise, while Lowry is back after sitting out Wednesday for rest.
Tyler Herro, however, is out with a right wrist bruise.
“It happened at some point yesterday, either falling or hitting something,” coach Erik Spoelstra said. “His forearm and wrist are pretty locked up right now. It’s muscle related. We’ll reevaluate him tomorrow.”
Adebayo has been dealing with the knee injury for more than two weeks, ever since a knee-to-knee collision early in the season. The star post player also missed a game last month because of the injury.
Lowry, 35, sat out Wednesday for only the second time all year. The point guard also missed a game because of a sprained left ankle in October.
Butler remains in the lineup for the second game of the back-to-back after missing the previous three games with a sprained left ankle. The star forward logged a triple-double in his return Wednesday, guiding the shorthanded Heat to a lopsided win against the New Orleans Pelicans in Miami.
Post player Markieff Morris remains out because of whiplash he got when superstar post player Nikola Jokic pushed him from behind in the Heat’s blowout loss to the Denver Nuggets on Nov. 8. Jokic was suspended one game for the foul. Morris has now missed six straight games.
Wing Victor Oladipo also remains out as he recovers from a right knee injury.
For the Wizards, point guard Spencer Dinwiddie is out for rest and center Daniel Gafford is out with a right thumb sprain.
