Podcast: The latest from inside the NBA bubble, and lots of Heat talk
After more than four months since the NBA season was suspended amid the COVID-19 pandemic, basketball is finally back.
With each of the 22 teams participating in the restart at Walt Disney World completing their three-game scrimmage schedule, the season resumes on Thursday. The Miami Heat begins its eight-game seeding schedule with a Saturday afternoon matchup against the Denver Nuggets.
In this week’s episode of the Heat Check podcast, David Wilson and Anthony Chiang, the Miami Herald’s Heat beat writer, are once again joined by Associated Press NBA writer Tim Reynolds. Reynolds, who has become the Heat Check podcast’s bubble correspondent, provides an update from the league’s Disney campus.
What’s the mood inside the bubble with the real games about to begin? Are superstars being treated differently than other players when it comes to hotel accommodations? Which Heat players had their hotel rooms mixed up? That one is a funny story. And what’s the league’s plan if a hurricane comes close to Disney?
Reynolds answers all of those questions and more in this week’s episode.
Chiang, Reynolds and Wilson also discuss their takeaways from the Heat’s three exhibition games. Topics covered include the Heat’s defense, the importance of Miami’s seeding games and the team’s mood coming out of its scrimmage schedule.
Did we mention, basketball is back?
