Shaq tells Green ‘I would’ve torn your [expletive] up’ if Warriors and Lakers matched up
Draymond Green has talked a lot of trash lately.
The Golden State Warriors forward recently reignited his feud with Charles Barkley, set the record straight on Kevin Durant and claimed he and Stephen Curry would have “destroyed” prime Shaquille O’Neal in the pick-and-roll. He even opined the Warriors are the greatest team in NBA history.
Normally, Green’s comments wouldn’t have been an issue. It’s mid-May and the NBA playoffs should be gripping basketball fans’ attention. But these obviously aren’t normal circumstances. So O’Neal decided to speak up.
“I like Draymond. I like guys that voice their opinion,” O’Neal told Stephen Jackson on his own podcast. “I try not to get personal with guys. I like him, I like the way he plays. You have to listen to his points. He made good, key points. He said in their era. He didn’t say in my era … In my era, [the Warriors] would have been the six or seven seed. You had us, you had you guys down in San Antonio, you had the Utah Jazz, you had Portland, you had White Chocolate [Jason Williams] and C-Webb [Chris Webber in Sacramento].
“But again, it’s his opinion. I try not to get personal with people’s opinions. But however, Mr. Draymond, like you said, I would’ve torn your ass up on that block.”
This wasn’t the first time O’Neal brought up Green’s remarks. The Hall of Famer said something similar last week on SiriusXM.
“We wouldn’t even be playing them because they would be the six or seven seed,” O’Neal said. “... Stop it Mr. Draymond. You’re too little.”
Comparing teams from different eras is fun but often a fool’s mission. Nearly 20 years separate the squads depending on which Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers teams are used for this hypothetical matchup. The game has evolved so much that these arguments never end with a true winner.
That’s where technology comes into play. Their only chance at figuring this out is firing up 2K20 and letting the simulation do the talking.
