Podcast: What is the Heat’s future? Can NBA save the season? Barry Jackson joins to discuss
There have been no NBA games for more than a month after the season was suspended on March 11 because of the coronavirus pandemic, but there’s still plenty of basketball to discuss.
In this week’s episode of the Heat Check podcast, Miami Herald do-it-all sports reporter Barry Jackson joined David Wilson and Anthony Chiang, the Miami Herald’s Heat beat writer. The trio discussed various basketball topics, including the challenges the NBA faces in saving the 2019-20 season.
Chiang, Jackson and Wilson also spoke about the current Heat roster, which entered the coronavirus shutdown with the Eastern Conference’s fourth-best record at 41-24. What was the most encouraging aspect of Miami’s season?
Finally, the three spent a good amount of time analyzing the Heat’s future. What kind of cap space will Miami have this upcoming offseason and can it bring back this roster for another run in 2020-21 without sacrificing its flexibility for the summer of 2021?
All of the answers are in the podcast. Enjoy.
