Miami Heat

‘Homie been quiet as a church mouse.’ Clippers’ Patrick Beverley blasts Jimmy Butler.

Another day, another player takes shots at Jimmy Butler.

This time, it’s Los Angeles Clippers guard Patrick Beverley stepping up to the plate.

Fresh off a lopsided victory over the Miami Heat, the eight-year veteran exercised his Twitter fingers — seemingly implying Butler’s tough-guy attitude was just a ruse.

Forever the instigator, this was Beverley at his finest. The win was not enough. Butler, who was held to just 11 points before exiting the game in the third quarter with a shoulder strain, needed to feel the sting of the blow out.

The irony is Beverley probably shoul have let someone else do the talking. Not only did a groin injury also keep him from finishing the game but his play wasn’t spectacular either. The defensive-minded guard finished with five points on 33 percent shooting, five boards and two assists.

Whether Butler will respond is still up in the air. On one hand, he’s been quick to fire back over social media. Just ask Indiana Pacers forward T.J. Warren. On the other, Beverley might not be worth it. The teams won’t meet again unless they reach the NBA Finals. Plus, with all of Pat Riley’s moves, the Heat could look totally different by that time.

In any case, don’t hold your breath waiting on Butler’s clap back. The Miami superstar has bigger things to worry about — namely gelling with his new teammates.
