Podcast: Breaking down the Heat’s defensive struggles and Bam Adebayo’s big week
It has been a positive start to the season, but it looks like the Heat has finally hit somewhat of a bump in the road.
After falling to the Grizzlies on Monday, the Heat’s slippage on defense has been a topic of conversation. Miami posted its worst single-game defensive rating of the season in Memphis, allowing 120.4 points per 100 possessions in the loss.
“We just didn’t guard nobody, man, from the beginning of the game,” Heat wing Jimmy Butler said after Monday’s loss in Memphis. “I think that’s the direction that we’re trending in right now. I feel like we got to take it personal. That doesn’t mean enough to us right now, to man up and take the challenge. That’s what happens. We deserved it.”
In this week’s episode of the Heat Check podcast, David Wilson and Anthony Chiang, the Miami Herald’s Heat beat writer, break down the team’s recent defensive struggles and discuss Butler’s comments.
We close by touching on Bam Adebayo’s Eastern Conference Player of the Week award, and also answer some questions from listeners on Dion Waiters, Goran Dragic’s injury and possible trades.
