Tim Hardaway’s thoughts on the Miami Heat’s title chances? ‘It’s wide open.’

Miami Heat great Tim Hardaway recently caught up with Mark Carman for his “On The Mark” podcast to talk going 0-17 in a NBA game, Chicago Bulls and Manute Bol. But his most notable comments came when discussing Jimmy Butler and the Heat’s ceiling.
“It’s wide open,” Hardaway said of the Heat’s title chances.
Defense and rebounding would be key if the Heat wanted compete for the Larry O’Brien, the Chicago native says.
“We know we can put the ball in the basketball but that’s not the way we gone win,” Hardaway continued. “We gone win by stopping people.”
As a former point guard, Hardaway spent some time effusing on the Heat’s ball movement which he credited Butler for spearheading. Hardaway also praised the star forward for quickly revitalizing the Heat culture after nobody gave them much of chance this year.
Butler is “bringing the culture of the Miami Heat back by working hard, being in great condition, playing hard and [not letting] nobody exceed your energy or your effort each and every night,” the legendary point guard said.
Although a NBA championship eluded Hardaway during his 14 year career, the five-time All-Star was no slouch. There’s a reason why his No. 10 jersey hangs from the rafters. Aside from having a gold medal to his name, Hardaway was one of 13 players to average at least 20 points and 10 assists in an NBA season.
