Lionel Messi and his Inter Miami teammates will have a chance to compete for a trophy at their new home, Nu Stadium, later this year.

The 2026 Michelob ULTRA Campeones Cup, the annual clash between the reigning MLS and LIGA MX Champions, will be held at Nu Stadium on Sept. 16, according to MLS sources. An official announcement is expected Wednesday.

Defending MLS Cup champion Inter Miami will host the winner of the July 25 Campeon de Campeones match between LIGA MX Apertura Champion Toluca and the LIGA MX Clausura Champion Cruz Azul. The September match will be shown on Apple TV.

Ticket information for the Campeones Cup at Nu Stadium will be released later. Fans are encouraged to visit www.CampeonesCup.com to sign up for the latest information and to be part of an exclusive presale opportunity.

In the past seven versions of the inter-league Campeones Cup, LIGA MX has the edge with four wins to three for MLS. In 2025, Toluca beat the L.A. Galaxy 3-2.
