Messi drives record ticket prices for Inter Miami road game at Real Salt Lake
The Lionel Messi effect on MLS ticket sales continues, nearly three years after the Argentine legend signed with Inter Miami.
Ticket prices are hitting record highs for Inter Miami’s road game Wednesday against Real Salt Lake at America First Field, just a few days after a crowd of 75,824, the second-largest in MLS history, saw Messi score twice in Miami’s 3-2 win over the Colorado Rapids at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver.
According to TickPick, the upcoming Real Salt Lake vs. Inter Miami matchup at 21,000-seat America First Field is the most expensive MLS game of the season with an average purchase price of $468. The current “get-in” (cheapest) price is $419, which is 1,396 percent more expensive than Real Salt Lake’s following home game against the Portland Timbers on May 2nd ($28).
Stub Hub showed similar prices with Standing Room Only areas going for $502, endzones for $800 and sideline seats in the $2,000 range. TicketMaster prices ranged from $525 to $2,000-plus and Seat Geek listed tickets ranging from $403 to $5,500.
