Inside Inter Miami: Discussing Mascherano’s abrupt resignation, and what’s ahead

On this week’s episode of Inside Inter Miami we have an in-depth discussion about coach Javier Mascherano’s sudden resignation this week just four months after leading the club to its first MLS Cup championship.

Mascherano cited “personal reasons” for his sudden exit, which was similar to what prior coach Tata Martino said 17 months ago when he stepped down from the same job.

Our hosts Michelle Kaufman and Andre C. Fernandez are joined by Apple TV analyst Sacha Kljestan to talk about what’s next for the team under interim coach Guillermo Hoyos, what went into Mascherano’s decision, and whether the team can fix the issues which have kept them from collecting more wins and goals this season.

We’ll have Hoyos’ first comments since being appointed head coach as well as an excerpt from Mascherano’s last press conference following Inter Miami’s 2-2 draw against Red Bull New York last Saturday.

We also have reaction from striker German Berterame after he finally scored his first goal for Inter Miami in last week’s game. We also look ahead to the upcoming road trip to Colorado and the challenge that awaits, plus an anecdote shared by Red Bulls coach Michael Bradley regarding Mascherano from their playing days.
