England’s World Cup team will play a pair of warmup matches in Florida in June and one of those games may be at Miami Freedom Park Stadium, the new home of Inter Miami, whose co-owner happens to be English legend David Beckham.

TEG Sport and the Football Association announced last week that The Three Lions will play New Zealand and Costa Rica during a preparation camp in South Florida. Thomas Tuchel’s team face the All Whites on Saturday June 6 before taking on Los Ticos on June 10.

An announcement about the match venues is expected soon. An Inter Miami club source confirmed to the Miami Herald that Miami Freedom Park, which opens April 4, will host at least one pre-World Cup friendly but would not confirm whether that match will include England.

It would make perfect sense considering the ties to Beckham and the stadium being in Miami-Dade County, not far from Hard Rock Stadium.

The Inter Miami training grounds in Fort Lauderdale might also be used as a Match Day-Minus One practice facility for World Cup teams playing games at Hard Rock Stadium. Teams with group stage games in Miami include Uruguay, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Scotland, Cape Verde, Colombia and Portugal.

Hard Rock Stadium, which will be called Miami Stadium during the World Cup due to FIFA sponsor rules, will also host a Round of 32 match, a quarterfinal and the third-place bronze medal game.

England will play Croatia, Ghana and Panama in Dallas, Boston and New York/New Jersey respectively. The team will have its base camp in Kansas City but will play the two tune-up matches in Florida.

It will be England men’s third meeting with New Zealand, with the previous two matches with the All Whites both coming in June 1991 in Auckland and Wellington respectively. The Three Lions played Costa Rica in the group stages of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, while England prepared for the 2018 tournament in Russia with a 2-0 victory over the Ticos at Leeds United’s Elland Road.

Ticket details and kickoff times for both Florida matches will be announced soon. Fans can register their interest to sign up for communication on the matches and have early access to tickets
