Inside Inter Miami: A look at Messi’s status with MLS Cup playoffs set to begin

Lionel Messi was not at Inter Miami’s training session on Tuesday.

But the word from the club is he will be good to go once Miami begins its MLS Cup first round playoff series against Nashville SC on Friday night at Chase Stadium.

That’s obviously a welcome relief for Inter Miami, which scored the most goals in MLS this season (81) thanks largely to Messi’s 48 goal contributions.

Miami will need that firepower in the postseason once again from its Golden Boot winner and likely repeat MLS MVP.

On the latest episode of Inside Inter Miami, we dive into our playoff preview and a look at Messi’s status for Friday with reaction from Javier Mascherano as to why he is a no-doubter to become the first player in league history to earn back-to-back MVP honors.

We look at Inter Miami’s possible playoff path and hear from Ian Fray, who made his Team Jamaica debut and is eyeing a move to play in Europe in the near future.
