Inside Inter Miami: Messi contract, Busquets’ future, Suarez return, NYCFC game

Luis Suarez is back for a big Inter Miami game on the road against New York City FC after a three-game ban for spitting on a member of the Seattle Sounders staff.

Lionel Messi is making headlines on and off the field, as he leads the MLS Golden Boot race and is about to sign a new multi-year contract that will ensure he ends his playing career in an Inter Miami uniform.

Sergio Busquets’ future, meanwhile, is up in the air as his contract expires at the end of this season and reports from Spain say he will retire. He was non-committal when asked about retirement last month. Javier Mascherano told the Miami Herald what he has told Busquets about retirement vs. continuing his playing career.

Inter Miami is in the final stretch of the season with six games remaining to climb the Eastern Conference table and secure home field advantage for the playoffs. Miami has scored more goals than any other team in the league, but the defense remains vulnerable.

In this week’s episode of the Inside Inter Miami podcast, host Michelle Kaufman is joined by guests Andrea Yanez and Jose Rodriguez of Deporte Total USA, who, like Michelle, have covered the team from Day One. They break it all down and we hear from Mascherano and Yannick Bright.
