Inside Inter Miami: Rodrigo De Paul transfer news, Messi magic, upcoming MLS games

Lionel Messi and his Inter Miami teammates returned to MLS with a bang after their Club World Cup exit, winning 4-1 at Montreal with a pair of goals and an assist from the Argentine legend.

Now, it’s off to New England Wednesday night and then a home game against second-place Nashville on Saturday, as the team is in the midst of a jam-packed schedule and hopes to make up ground in the MLS standings.

Meanwhile, Rodrigo De Paul, one of Messi’s closest friends on the Argentina national team, may be joining him in South Florida. Negotiations are heating up between Inter Miami owners and Atletico Madrid, which appears willing to let go of the 31-year-old midfielder for the right price.

In the latest episode of Inside Inter Miami, co-host Michelle Kaufman is joined by special guest Simon Evans of Agence France-Presse and The Soccer Business Newsletter/Podcast to discuss why a Rodrigo move to Miami would make sense, the latest on Messi’s contract extension, Inter Miami’s win over Montreal, upcoming games, and the Club World Cup, which comes to a close this weekend with Sunday’s final.
