Inside Inter Miami: Lionel Messi hurt again, but club rolls into FIFA break unbeaten
Lionel Messi returned to action.
He scored a goal in each of Inter Miami’s two victories - one to advance in the Concacaf Champions Cup and the other to earn some payback vs. Atlanta United.
And then he got hurt again.
As a result, Messi did not travel to join the Argentine national team for its upcoming World Cup qualifying matchups vs. rivals Uruguay and Brazil.
On this latest episode of Inside Inter Miami, hosts Michelle Kaufman and Andre Fernandez discuss Messi’s latest injury setback and the impact it has in the short and long term on Inter Miami.
We also recap Inter Miami’s victory over Cavalier in Jamaica during which Messi gave the fans a thrill with a late goal, and his spectacular goal to level the score early in Miami’s 2-1 comeback win over Atlanta, which coach Javier Mascherano said “only Messi can do.”
We also go over Fafa Picault’s impressive game-winning header in the 89th minute in what was his first game back from injury.
Miami is 7-0-1 across all competitions so far and just wrapped up that stretch of success in just a 26-day period.
We look at what’s next and what’s been the key to that success despite having Messi available for less than half of that span.
