Inter Miami

Inside Inter Miami: A busy first week highlighted by Concacaf Champions Cup triumphs

Inter Miami’s eventful first week included a pair of wins, a tumultuous draw and playing in minus-12 degree weather.

This episode of Inside Inter Miami reviews the club’s victory in the bitter cold of Kansas City over Sporting KC in the first leg of the Concacaf Champions Cup last week, which it followed with a dominant 3-1 victory in the second leg to advance to the round of 16.

In between, Inter Miami - on short rest - dueled NYCFC to a 2-2 draw in its MLS season opener at home last Saturday. A tough game resulted in postgame fines for Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, which we discuss.

We get perspective of this eventful first week from Ian Fray and Jordi Alba.

What’s next?

More matches in both MLS play and Champions Cup and more short turnarounds in between.

We look ahead to their next opponents in each competition and we provide updates on a few key players working to return from injury.

And we look at the goalkeeper situation as Drake Callender continues to work his way back, but Oscar Ustari continues to shine in a starting role.
