Inter Miami

Inside Inter Miami: A gift from Messi, a strong preseason and a frozen opener

Overall, it was a strong preseason for Inter Miami.

Will it set the club up for a championship season?

Time will tell, but the journey begins in frigid conditions as Miami travels to the icy cold of Kansas City to begin the first round leg of its matchup with Sporting KC in the Concacaf Champions Cup on Wednesday night.

The club is set to potentially play three matches in the span of a week as it then returns home for the MLS opener against NYCFC before again taking on KC in the second leg of Champions Cup play.

Our hosts Michelle Kaufman and Andre Fernandez break down this first hectic week and look back at the biggest takeaways from a preseason in which Inter Miami went unbeaten in five games, capped by a 2-2 draw with Orlando City.

We look at the impact the new faces on the team had and look ahead to whether Lionel Messi will play or not in the matchup at Kansas City.

We’ll have updates on the status of key players such as Drake Callender, David Martinez, David Ruiz and Maxi “Peluca” Falcon to open the season.

We break down the MLS season and who are the top contenders including a very familiar foe for Inter Miami.

Also, Michelle does a live unboxing of a special gift from Messi to open the show.
