Inter Miami signs Uruguayan defender Maxi Falcon, sends Facundo Farias to Estudiantes
Inter Miami bolstered its back line on Saturday with the addition of Uruguayan defender Maximiliano “Maxi” Falcon from Chilean first division champion Colo Colo.
Falcon, 27, signed a contract through the 2028 season with an option for 2029. The center back is awaiting his P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC), so he is not expected to be available for Inter Miami’s preseason game Sunday in Panama against San Miguelito.
He played at Colo Colo the past four seasons and previously played for Club Atlético Rentistas (2019 to 2020) in Uruguay. He has made 195 appearances throughout his career at club level, including 24 in the Copa Libertadores, recording 10 goals and two assists.
Falcon has been part of seven championship teams, one with Rentistas and six with Colo Colo.
“I’m thrilled to join such an important club like Inter Miami for this first chapter of my career playing outside of South America,” he said. “My goal is to give my all to help the Club and my new teammates succeed and win titles.”
With Colo Colo Falcon won two Chilean First Division Titles (2022, 2024), two Chile Cup titles (2021, 2023), and two Chilean Super Cup titles (2022, 2024). Earlier in his career he played seven games for Uruguay’s U-20 national team.
In other team news, Inter Miami announced the transfer of forward Facundo Farias to Argentine club Estudiantes. Farias joined Inter Miami in July 2023 and scored three goals and two assists in 13 games. He missed the entire 2024 season after suffering an injury during the team’s preseason tour.
