Inter Miami

Inside Inter Miami: When will Messi return? NY fiasco, defensive help on way, NYCFC preview

Just when it looked like Inter Miami could win without Lionel Messi, as it did against D.C. United two weeks ago, the men in pink went to Red Bull Arena and were as cold and sloppy as the inclement weather.

Nothing went right for Miami as former teammate Lewis Morgan recorded a hat trick and was instrumental in New York’s fourth goal, as well, in a 4-0 rout. Coach Tata Martino was extremely unhappy with the team’s effort, and didn’t mince words in his post-game press conference.

So, what went wrong? We’ll discuss that on this episode of Inter Miami.

We will also break down when Messi might return from injury. Will he come back for the NYCFC game at home on Saturday? Or will he wait until the Champions Cup quarterfinal first leg against Monterrey next Wednesday?

Also, we discuss Miami’s spotty defense and the imminent arrival of Boca Juniors right back Marcelo Weigandt, who is joining Miami on loan for the rest of the season. An announcement is expected this week. Finally, we look ahead to the NYCFC game and what to expect.
