Inter Miami was on the brink of suffering its first loss of the season, but two of the team’s biggest stars have entered the match looking to change that.

Luis Suarez and Sergio Busquets were substituted into Inter Miami’s home game vs. CF Montreal in the second half on Sunday afternoon, replacing midfielders Lawson Sunderland and Federico Redondo, respectively, at Chase Stadium.

Busquets entered first, stepping onto the field in the 66th minute as part of a triple substitution that came with Inter Miami trailing 1-0. Suarez was brought on as a lone sub in the 77th minute, two minutes after CF Montreal took a 2-1 lead and a minute before that advantage was pushed to 3-1.

Busquets helped give Inter Miami a late lifeline, playing a flicked pass to fellow star Jordi Alba in the 80th minute that the left back blasted home to bring Inter Miami within a goal.

Suarez and Busquets in addition to Lionel Messi (rest) were dropped from the starting lineup for the Eastern Conference affair. Inter Miami is in the midst of a busy stretch in which the team plays four games in 12 days, with its most recent match having taken place this past Thursday against Nashville SC and the next game being on March 13 vs. the same opponent.
