Inside Inter Miami: Messi’s words after Hong Kong debacle, status as global tour ends

Inter Miami finally won a game on its ambitious preseason tour.

But the club’s traveling rockstar show took an image hit thanks to its handling of their star Lionel Messi’s availability for its match in Hong Kong.

Messi not playing in the contest without any advance notice this past weekend drew the ire of local fans and even the Hong Kong government prompting Inter Miami’s superstar to speak to the media ahead of its next stop Tuesday in Tokyo.

This came on the heels of the “Last Dance” between Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo falling apart when the former played only seven minutes due to a calf injury and the latter didn’t play at all, also due to injury.
