Inter Miami jerseys to finally be revealed Wednesday, eight-game ticket plans on sale

Inter Miami fans eager to know what the team’s jersey will look like will find out Wednesday night. The full collection of new 2020 Major League Soccer kits (uniforms) will be revealed in New York City as part of the league’s 25th anniversary celebration and Fashion Week.

The FORWARD25 Jersey event, which begins at 8 p.m., will include celebrity models including NFL wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, actor Colin Hanks and pro gamer Ninja. The black-and-pink Inter Miami jerseys will be modeled by two of the club’s academy players — Axel Perez, 13, and Fernando Sanchez, 14, both Cuban-American and bilingual, embodying the club’s culture.

Only the road jerseys will be revealed at the event. The Inter Miami home shirts will be unveiled at a later date.

Meanwhile, the team continued its preseason training in Bradenton this week and welcomed midfielder Wil Trapp, who was acquired in a trade with the Columbus Crew. Trapp, 27, was a team leader with the Crew the past seven seasons, an MLS All-Star in 2016 and has played 18 games for the U.S. national team.

“I’m so excited to be here,” Trapp said by phone Tuesday. “It was stressful and crazy, but when I found out it was Miami, I was thrilled because of who the coach is, the excitement behind the club, knowing the ownership and their investment and how committed they are to this project and city.”

He said he has been most impressed with the humility and work ethic he found at training camp.

“With the high-profile nature of this team, you have certain assumptions, you wonder `What is that culture like?’ But when you step foot here and start to meet the guys, there’s a level of professionalism and humility and understanding that we are so happy to be here, but we understand it’s going to take a lot of work to make this successful,” Trapp said. “We’re all venturing into the unknown together.”

He said the players are already being inspired by coach Diego Alonso.

“The passion and intensity with which he coaches is certainly bleeding into the group; and you’re seeing every training is short, sharp and intense,” Trapp said.

Luis Argudo played two seasons with Trapp in Columbus and recalls Trapp helping him get acclimated. He calls Trapp “a born leader” and “a big asset” for Inter Miami.

Inter Miami will train in Bradenton through Thursday, then return to Fort Lauderdale, where it will face the USL team Charleston Battery on Friday in a closed-door scrimmage. The team will take the weekend off and resume camp at the club’s new training facility next week before heading to St. Petersburg for a Feb. 15 preseason match against the Philadelphia Union.

“We’ve been training and playing against each other a lot, so to be able to compete as a unit for the first time against a different team this Friday, everyone’s going to be excited, ready to go,” Argudo said.

Ticket plans on sale: The club announced Tuesday partial eight-game season ticket plans. These packages include special stadium entrance, private hospitality, and pre-sale access to purchase individual match tickets to the home debut March 14 against five-time MLS Cup champion L.A. Galaxy. For information, call 305-428-0611 or e-mail: tickets@intermiamicf.com
