The Fort Lauderdale Strikers are one win away from the NASL Championship match. The Strikers traveled to Blaine, Minn., to take on the top-seeded Minnesota United on Saturday night at 7. The winner plays the winner of the other semifinal between the San Antonio Scorpions and New York Cosmos.
The Strikers and United have played three times this year, and the Loons won all three by a combined score of 8-2. Fort Lauderdale has not had good luck in Minnesota, having lost four straight there. But, the Strikers are on a hot streak, entering the post-season on a seven-match unbeaten streak with four wins and three draws since Sept. 13.
"We're the underdogs, for sure, but if we can beat Minnesota, then anything can happen,'' said Strikers forward Fafa Picault.
Strikers fans are invited to a watch party at Stout Bar and Grill, 3419 N. Andrews Ave., Fort Lauderdale.
