The 2017 All-Star Game will be played at Marlins Park.
Officials are expected to announce within the week that Miami has been awarded the Midsummer Classic for the first time, multiple sources with knowledge of the agreement confirmed Tuesday to the Miami Herald.
Marlins and Major League Baseball officials refused to comment.
The awarding of the 2017 event will mark the end of a long and bumpy road to bring the All-Star Game to South Florida.

The Marlins tried — and failed — in their bid to host the 2015 All-Star Game at their new, retractable roof ballpark, which opened in 2012.
Major League Baseball awarded the 2000 All-Star Game to South Florida, only to yank it away and hand it to Atlanta following the dismantling of the 1997 World Series team.
In addition to Miami, Washington was also thought to be a contender to land the 2017 Game.
This year’s All-Star Game will be played in Cincinnati, with San Diego on tap to host in 2016.
New MLB commissioner Rob Manfred recently told ESPN.com that he would like to see a bidding system — similar to one used to award the Super Bowl — determine which cities host future All-Star Games.
But outgoing commissioner Bud Selig said the league had made promises to a number of teams with new ballparks that they would get their chance to host the oldest of all All-Star Games in professional sports.
The first All-Star Game was played in 1933.
“In getting these ballparks built, we made a lot of promises to cities about getting All-Star Games,” Selig said at the owners’ meetings last month.
Although details of the 2017 All-Star Game are not yet known, the game is typically played in early July. And the event is no longer just a one-day affair. It now includes a Futures Game involving the top minor-league prospects, as well as the Home Run Derby, which in 2017 would seem tailor-made for Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton in his home park.
The All-Star Game won’t be the first major event held at Marlins Park.
The World Baseball Classic was held there in 2013, and the first Miami Beach Bowl was played there in December.
After San Diego (Petco Park) and Miami (Marlins Park) are out of the way, only four existing ballparks will remain that have not yet hosted an All-Star Game. They are: Yankee Stadium, Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park, Tampa Bay’s Tropicana Field and Washington’s Nationals Park.
