It’s been a quiet winter so far for the Marlins, but that could soon change.

According to sources, the Marlins have had preliminary talks with the Rangers about a trade involving outfielder Marcell Ozuna for right-handed pitcher Chi Chi Gonzalez.

Gonzalez, a 23-year-old native of Boynton Beach, made his major-league debut last season with the Rangers, going 4-6 with a 3.90 ERA in 14 appearances, 10 of them starts.

The Marlins believe he could slot in immediately as their No. 4 starter.

The Marlins are reportedly in trade discussions with other teams involving Ozuna, as well.

According to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports, the market for Ozuna is “moving fast,” and the Marlins have spoken to a number of teams, including at least one on the West Coast.
