Here’s who the Marlins invited to spring training. And Fanfest details
Two top Marlins prospects headline the group of players who received nonroster invitations to participate in spring training.
The Marlins’ nonroster invitation list, released by the team Thursday, includes 31 players, headlined by two minor-league pitchers who are considered among the team’s top four prospects: Thomas White and Robby Snelling.
The list also includes former Marlins first-round pick Jacob Berry and Dillon Lewis, the coveted former Yankees outfield prospect acquired in this month’s trade that sent pitcher Ryan Weathers to the Bronx.
And the Marlins’ nonroster invitees also include a former Miami Hurricane — 2019 opening day pitcher Even McKendry, a right-hander who had a 5.15 ERA in Triple A for the Brewers and White Sox last season.
The full list:
▪ Pitchers (15): Nigel Brlgrave, Zach Brzykcy, Josh Ekness, Stephen Jones, Justin King, Evan McEndry, Karson Milbrandt, Patrick Monevedre, Jack Ralston, Snelling, Dale Stanavich, Jesus Tinoco, Sam Vasquez, White and Tyler Zuber.
▪ Catchers (4): Ryan Ignoffo, Bennett Hostetler, Brian Navarreto and Sam Praytor.
▪ Outfielders (7): Kemp Alderman, Matthew Etzel, Daniel Johnson, Brendan Jones, Lewis, Andrew Pintar and Fenwick Trimble.
▪ Infielders (5): Jesus Bastidas, Berry, Dylan Jasso, Nathan Martorella and Johnny Almstead.
The Marlins still might add another starting pitcher in the weeks ahead, as a player on their 40-man roster or as a non-roster invitee.
Marlins pitchers and catchers report to Jupiter on Feb. 11. Full squad workouts begin Feb. 16.
