Miramar star football players continue West Virginia trend
A week after hiring a new football coach, Miramar celebrated Wednesday’s National Signing Day with 11 athletes – including 10 football players – signing with colleges.
The Patriots continued their pipeline to West Virginia with two of their biggest names choosing to head to Morgantown.
Tyrek Cole and Jovon Durante each signed with the Mountaineers.
But wide receiver Khalil Lewis, who had been a West Virginia target, signed with Cincinnati.
Miramar had three more players sign with Football College Subdivision schools.
Wide receivers Jeffery Hill signed with Northern Illinois and Herbert Miller signed with Florida Atlantic University.
Offensive lineman Leeward Brown signed with Tulane.
Rounding out the class were wide receiver Kevin Purlett (Florida Tech), defensive back Josmar Diaz-Martinez (Valparaiso), linebacker Keno Clarke (Stillman College) and defensive lineman Brandon Morris (Wesleyan College).
Miramar also had girls’ basketball standout Lorette Thompson sign with Florida Memorial University.
