St. Thomas Aquinas junior quarterback Jake Allen announced that he has decided to make an oral commitment to the University of Florida. A four-star prospect in the class of 2017, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, Allen chose UF over other early offers from Miami, Pittsburgh, North Carolina State and Iowa, among others.
The Gators are expected to have redshirt freshman Will Grier compete with sophomore Treon Harris, who played as a freshman out of Booker T. Washington, for the starting job this season. After that, UF has no quarterback commits in its 2016 class, and Allen is the only quarterback in its 2017 class of two commitments.
