An elite South Florida defensive lineman is set to visit Miami for second straight weekend

One of the best defensive linemen in South Florida will be at Hard Rock Stadium for the second consecutive weekend Saturday to watch the Miami Hurricanes host the Michigan State Spartans.

Nyjalik Kelly, who has emerged as one of Miami’s top targets in the Class of 2022, will make the quick trip back down to Miami Gardens for the Hurricanes’ second home game in 2021.

Kelly was also in attendance for Miami’s 25-23 win against the Appalachian State Mountaineers on Saturday.

The four-star defensive lineman from Fort Lauderdale Dillard is the No. 86 overall prospect in the 2022 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports.com composite rankings. He’s one of four top-100 defensive linemen and edge rushers in the region, and one of the Hurricanes’ best chances to land an elite lineman in the current recruiting cycle.

Defensive line coach Jess Simpson also made the trip up to Fort Lauderdale last Friday to watch the Kelly play.

The 6-foot-4, 240-pound senior still has one official visit left to use, and Miami is hoping to convince him to use it for a trip to Coral Gables sometime in the fall, perhaps even in December. Kelly has already taken official visits with the Florida State Seminoles, LSU Tigers, Oregon Ducks and Indiana Hoosiers.

Another return visitor

Mike Jackson will also be at Hard Rock for the second weekend in a row Saturday. The three-star wide receiver from Miami Palmetto put the Hurricanes in his top five last month, and Miami has ratcheted up the communication with the local speedster.

Some schools are recruiting Jackson as a defensive back, but the Hurricanes like 5-8, 150-pound senior as a receiver.

Jackson has yet to take any official visits, although he has one lined up with Appalachian State for October. Last weekend, was a chance to see two of his top schools in person, and Saturday will give him another chance to see the hometown team.

The West Virginia Mountaineers are also in the mix for the two-way athlete.

Miami could also get another top target in attendance for the second consecutive weekend: Wesley Bissainthe, a four-star linebacker from Miami Central, told 247Sports he might get back to Hard Rock on Saturday.

A five-star visitor

The Hurricanes have done a good job getting Class of 2023 prospects out to Hard Rock so far this year and they will have another big one in attendance Saturday.

Malik Bryant, a five-star edge rusher from Bradenton IMG Academy, will make the trip down to Miami-Dade County to check out the Hurricanes for the first time in 2021.
