Miami’s expected visitors for home opener include elite local D-lineman, top 2023 talent
The Miami Hurricanes are allowed to host recruits inside Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday for the first time since 2019, and one of South Florida’s best defensive prospects will be in Miami Gardens to watch the Hurricanes take on the Appalachian State Mountaineers.
Nyjalik Kelly, a four-star defensive lineman from Fort Lauderdale Dillard, headlines Miami’s expected-visitors list this weekend.
Kelly is the No. 86 overall prospect in the 247Sports.com composite rankings for the Class of 2022 and the No. 15 defensive lineman, and one of four top-100 defensive linemen in South Florida for his class.
The 6-foot-4, 240-pound senior spent the first weekend of the season on an official visit in Tallahassee to watch the Florida State Seminoles’ overtime loss to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Sunday. Kelly is a former Florida State commit who has also taken official visits with the LSU Tigers, Indiana Hoosiers and Oregon Ducks. He’s still trying to figure out his final official visit, and the Hurricanes would like it to be in Coral Gables later this year.
Kelly most recently visited Miami in July for the Hurricanes’ pool party. Defensive backs coach Travaris Robinson planned to make the trip up to Fort Lauderdale on Friday to watch Dillard host Miramar.
The Hurricanes will also host one of their few in-state commits, as well as several local blue-chip prospects from the Class of 2023 for the nonconference showdown with Appalachian State.

The Hurricanes did host a handful of recruits Saturday in Atlanta for their season-opening loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide. Five-star Monsignor Pace defensive lineman Shemar Stewart, four-star cornerback commit Khamauri Rogers and Myron Green, the No. 1 junior college defensive lineman, all crossed state lines to watch Miami play in a Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Game.
