Last week’s best Miami-Dade high school performances


The South Dade girls’ soccer team won its second GMAC championship in the past three seasons. Bania Duran and Thalia Leal each had a goal in the Buccaneers’ 2-0 victory in the final against Ferguson.


Raquan Mitchell, Southridge, boys’ basketball: Mitchell had 23 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Spartans to a 70-62 victory over Coral Reef.

Jack Kaswan, Scheck Hillel, boys’ basketball: Kaswan had 19 points, including three three-pointers, to lead the Hurricanes to a 64-63 overtime win over Doctors Charter.

Adriana Lopez, Ransom Everglades, girls’ basketball: Lopez went 14 of 16 from the free-throw line and finished with 20 points, four steals and four assists to lead the Raiders to a 44-42 win over Gulliver.

Giolibeth Perez, Ferguson, girls’ basketball: Perez had 49 points and 17 assists to lead the Falcons to blowout district wins over South Miami and Lourdes.

Jordan Marshall, Southridge, wrestling: Marshall had a key pin in 20 seconds in the 120-pound class to lead the Spartans to a win over Palmetto.

Kyle Mann, Columbus, wrestling: Mann scored a pin in 54 seconds to win at 220 pounds and lead the Explorers to a win over Coral Reef.

Pablo Mejia, Miami Country Day, boys’ soccer: Mejia had seven assists and three goals in four games.

Bijan Zojaji, Archimedean, boys’ soccer: Zojaji scored four goals to lead Archimedean to a 5-3 win over Divine Savior.

Katelyn Godoy, Florida Christian, girls’ soccer: Godoy scored the game-winning goal in the final 30 seconds in a 1-0 win against Mater Academy, and scored five goals and had an assist in an 8-0 win against Keys Gate.

Michelle Figarola, Lourdes, girls’ soccer: Figarola scored two goals to lead the Bobcats to a 3-0 win over previously unbeaten Parkland Douglas.
