Central quartet makes All-State

Florida’s All-State football teams were released this week, with several of South Florida’s best players earning spots in their respective classifications.

Miami Central’s state championship team has four players on the Class 6A first team.

Senior running back Anthony Jones (an FIU commitment), senior offensive lineman Jason Jean (Marshall commit), senior defensive back Olin Cushion (FIU commit) and junior defensive end Keir Thomas all made the 6A first team.

Miami Norland senior defensive back and Ohio State commit Carlton Davis also made first team in that group, as did Hallandale senior wide receiver Richie Cooper, a Northern Illinois commit.

CLASS 5A

Plantation American Heritage senior quarterback Torrance Gibson (Ohio State commit), senior defensive back Tarvarus McFadden (FSU commit) and senior linebacker Anthony Flory headlined the Class 5A first team. The trio helped the Patriots win their second consecutive state title.

CLASS 4A

Miami Booker T. Washington had seven players on the Class 4A first team. Senior quarterback Maurice Alexander (FIU commit), senior running back Mark Walton (UM commit), senior wide receiver Antonio Callaway and senior offensive lineman Ben Tirolia made it on offense. Senior defensive end Devonaire Clarington (Texas commit), and defensive backs Davante Davis (Texas commit) and Ocie Rose (FIU commit) made it on the defensive side. Miami Monsignor Pace senior linebacker Sage Lewis (Marshall commit) also made first team.

CLASS 3A

Miami Westminster Christian senior running back Jordan Cronkrite was the lone South Florida player earning first-team honors.
