Carol City defeats American 42-10
With both teams having already punched their tickets to the postseason, there was nothing more than neighborhood bragging rights on the line between Carol City and American on Friday night at Milander Stadium.
And it will be the Chiefs players that will be able to do the bragging after Carol City rolled to a 34-7 halftime lead and cruised to the easy win. Carol City (8-2) will host Dillard at Traz Powell Stadium next Friday while American (6-4) will host Columbus at Milander.
TOP TWO
Carol City quarterback Stephen “Buckshot” Calvert enjoyed a big first half, completing 10-of-16 passes for 188 yards and one touchdown before taking the second half off.
Chiefs running back Nayquan Wright only touched the ball three times but one run was good for a 90 yard second quarter touchdown run.
THEY SAID IT
“It was a big game for our kids because of the neighborhood rivalry but the best thing about tonight was that we came out with high energy and want to take that into the playoffs with us.” — Carol City coach Aubrey Hill
