Coral Reef finishes season strong with win over playoff-bound Hialeah
Having been eliminated from playoff contention last week, Coral Reef played its final regular-season game like it was its own little playoff game, as the Barracudas cruised to an easy 35-13 win over Hialeah in a non-district matchup at Harris Field.
Coral Reef (4-6) took a 14-0 first quarter lead on a pair of touchdown runs and never looked back. Hialeah, which qualified for the playoffs as a District 13-8A runnerup, finished the regular season 5-5 and will get ready to take on Coral Gables in a first round matchup next Thursday, Nov. 13 at Tropical Park.
TOP TWO
Mehki Ervan: Coral Reef running back enjoyed a big night as he finished with 141 of his team’s 285 rushing yards and two scores.
Colvin Alford: Coral Reef defensive back led the Cudas defensive attack with a pair of interceptions.
THEY SAID IT
“It’s disappointing in that we didn’t make the playoffs but at least the kids came out [Thursday] and played hard, and we finished the season on a positive note.”
— Reef coach Javi Valdes
