Mater Academy beats Hialeah-Miami Lakes, sets sights on playoff matchup next week
Following a 24-20 score at halftime, two fourth-quarter field goals by Orlando Hayes propelled the Lions to a 30-20 victory over the Trojans at Milander Park. Mater Academy has a playoff matchup at Nova next Friday.
Both Mater (8-1, 7-1) and Hialeah-Miami Lakes (4-6, 0-4) got big first-half production from their running backs. Daniel Doriscar rushed for 142 yards for the Lions and Malik Shannon gained 129 for the Trojans.

Doriscar: Ran for 170 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries. He had one reception for 10 yards.
Shannon: Led Hialeah-Miami Lakes with 152 rushing yards and a touchdown on 14 carries.
