Miami Springs doesn’t let up in 43-0 win over Westland Hialeah

Smarting from three consecutive close losses that knocked it out of the playoff chase, Miami Springs took out its frustrations on winless Westland Hialeah on Thursday afternoon, winning a District 16-7A matchup 43-0 at Springs High School.

Springs (5-4, 5-3) was in the end zone three times before the whistle even blew for the first-quarter water break and never looked back. Running back Darryel “DJ” Bethune Jr. gained 134 yards on 11 carries with two scores against Westland (0-9, 0-8).

Bethune Jr.: He needed 128 yards going into the game to cross over the 1,000-yard barrier for the season, and got it on his last carry of the day.

David Bradley: Springs receiver had three catches for 54 yards and two touchdowns.

“The last three games have been really tough on us so we needed a game like [Thursday] to kind of get past all of that and can now focus on having a winning season with a win next week.”
