Coral Gables remains unbeaten with 48-0 win over Miami Beach, setting up clash against Columbus next week

Special teams and defense kept Coral Gables undefeated with a 48-0 victory over Miami Beach on Friday night at Memorial Park. The Cavaliers (7-0, 3-0) face undefeated Columbus next Friday at Tropical Park.

Before the Gables offense took the field, the defense induced a safety and running back Johnny Ford returned the punt 45 yards for a touchdown. Robert Brown later had another safety, and Ford added to his scoring with an 81-yard kick return.

Receivers Jeffery Jennings and Hakeem Sanon combined for seven catches for Miami Beach (2-5, 1-2).

Ford: Had an 81-yard kick-return touchdown and 45-yard-punt return touchdown.

Jennings: Had four catches for 23 yards.

“Special teams did a great job. I told them, ‘You block, I score.’ We don’t talk about [Columbus], but we’re ready.”
