Miami-Dade High Schools

Six Killian High School baseball players sign letters of intent

During a ceremony at the school’s auditorium that resembled a football National Signing Day event, Killian’s baseball team celebrated six of its seniors signing letters of intent with colleges.

Infielders Eddy Demurias (University of Florida), Joey Gonzalez (Stetson) and Sebastian Gonzalez (ASA College) were joined on stage by pitchers Ryan Granda (Jacksonville), Keith Stevens (FAMU) and Frank Follaco (Jackson State) as each signed with their respective colleges as the early signing period for non-football sports began.

“This whole day has been a long time coming and one I’ve looked forward to for this group because of who these kids are,” Killian coach Angel Herrera said. “They’ve been the crux of this team for a long time, and I’m excited for them and I’ll never forget this day.”

The six players represent the core of a Cougars squad that is expected to be one of the favorites to win the Class 8A state championship next baseball season.

Killian also announced that three of its underclassmen — sophomores Freddy Zamora, a shortstop, and Eddy Arteaga, a catcher, and junior catcher Herbert Iser — have committed to the University of Miami.
